I used to have lots of acne. I used to be so insecure about how my bare skin looks. I used to put on foundation every time I get out of the house. Having problems with my skin was something that I have to deal with every. single. day.
My skin was never “perfect”. I struggled with unevenness, whiteheads, and breakouts throughout my teenage years. I started following a simple skincare routine since I was 15, but using cheaply made products with subpar quality really didn’t do much for my skin.
When I was 18, I started following a consistent skincare routine. I started paying more attention to the ingredients in the products that I use, doing more research into what steps I should include in my routine, and what kinds of cream/ serum is best for my skin type and problems.
After 2 years of consistently following a set routine comprised of high-quality products and adopting a healthier diet (by reducing dairy, sugar and junk food), I have seen a SIGNIFICANT improvement in my skin’s texture and brightness, and most importantly, my whiteheads and acne have completely disappeared. Don’t get me wrong, I still have little breakouts from time to time *I’m still human after all :)* but it’s mostly just 1 or 2 pimples that usually go away in about a week.
I’m so grateful for the change in my skin, and I have to attribute the success to my skincare routine. Now, people would often compliment me for having “perfect” skin (so ironic because I used to believe that my skin would never be “perfect”). These pictures show my bare skin with no coverage. I’m so proud of the smooth, healthy and glowing skin that I have now, and more importantly, it’s the results of all of my effort and hard work to take care of my skin over the past five years.
I hope my story inspires you to start a skincare routine. However, if you’re not yet convinced, here are the 3 reasons why you should start a skincare routine RIGHT NOW (if you haven’t already) :
1. Your skin will thank you in 10 years
Sometimes we don't notice the change in our appearance overtime (because we look at ourselves every day). But trust me, we all age, and the skin that you have today will most likely change in some type of forms in 5 years, 10 years or 20 years. You'll start noticing more fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, uneven tone, lack of elasticity, and other skin issues sooner than you think unless you prevent them by taking care of your skin early. And best of all, if you nourish your skin now, it will pay off and make you look younger than your age in the future, guarantee!
2. It’s easier and cheaper to prevent rather than to fix
Imagine 5 years from today, you’re not satisfied with how your skin looks either because of ageing (wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, etc.) or other environmental factors (you feel bad when seeing your friends who look younger than you, some people commenting that you look older than your age). You go to your aesthetician and express your concern, and she recommends you to get a botox. How much do you think that would that cost you? And we’re not even talking about the risks associated with the procedure.
Taking good care of your skin early by following a skincare routine consistently will save you tons of money and effort in the long run. Costly trips to plastic surgeons or dermatologists will likely be eliminated if your skin is healthy and well taken care of.
3. When you look good, you’ll feel good
I experience this first hand. When I had troubled skin, I wouldn’t feel confident if I had no makeup on. Every time people look at me, I was concerned if they would see my acne or uneven texture. But now, I can confidently go out with no makeup and feel great about how my skin looks. And you know what they say ;) “Confidence is the best outfit you can wear” right?
My new skincare obsession
Recently, I’ve been obsessed with my new moisturizer from Riversol. I believe that moisturizer is an integral and most important part of a skincare regimen, so I’m always extra careful when it comes to choosing a moisturizer that works for me.
Riversol Daily Moisturizing Cream has not made me disappointed! I love how fast it absorbs and how light it feels on my skin. My skin feels moisturized and protected throughout the day and the moisturizer also leaves a subtle glow on my skin, which I’m so in love with!
I only use a dime-size amount each time I apply it on my face, so a little really does go a long way :) Good for my skin, great for my pocket! Why not?
If you’re looking for a high-quality, gentle yet effective moisturizer for your sensitive skin, don’t hesitate to give Riversol Daily Moisturizing Cream a try! It definitely has my stamp of approval!
I can’t wait to hear about how your skin will improve after following a skincare routine! Let me know what you think!
