3 Crucial Benefits Of Reading Every Day

Updated: Sep 9, 2019

I have a question for you:

“How many books do you read in a year?”

If your answer to that question is “maybe one or none”, this article is for you! This is the 3 reasons why reading should make it onto your daily ritual starting from NOW.

Trust me, I’m not even an avid reader, but I make sure I read at least 1 book per week, either spending time on a physical book or listening to an audiobook on the drive home.

Personally, I love self-help/business books. I find it’s healing and inspiring to read or listen to at least part of one personal development book a day. Just a chapter or 20 pages in the morning can make all the difference in how I see myself and the world around me.

There are so many benefits of reading that I guess you may have heard of before. You know that you should probably read more but it seems like you can never find time to do it, right?

I know, I’ve been there. That’s why I’m writing this article so hopefully it can serve as an inspiration for you to become a more frequent reader.

Here are the three reasons why you should read at least 1 book a week:

1. Books can be your mentor

If you don’t have a mentor, good books can certainly act as your mentors and guide you towards what you want to achieve in life. Reading books lets you understand someone whose success you admire, to step inside their head, hear what they think and see what they're been through. Maybe some of them will have the same struggles as you and by reading about their stories, you can gain inspiration and motivation to work on yourself and move forward in your own journey.

2. Reading is a way to invest in yourself

One of the best ways to invest in yourself is to obtain valuable knowledge and skills that are beneficial to you not only now but also in the future. And reading can help you do just that. Interested in investing in the stock market, opening a business, becoming more productive, or having better people skills? There are thousands of extensively researched and well-written books out there on each of these topics that you can pick up in just a minute through apps such as Kindle or Audible at a fraction of the cost that you would have to pay for formal education or expensive online courses.

Investing in yourself by reading can have an amazing "return on investment" because the knowledge that you can gain from reading can help you tremendously when it's time to make important decisions in the future.

3. Books can inspire you to become who you’re truly meant to be

Throughout the years, I have learned so much from the books I've read and they have had a significant impact on who I am today. I started to believe that I can be more, do more and experience more of what I love. Reading books has opened me to a world of possibilities that I never knew was possible before. I'm forever grateful for the great impact of good books on my life, they have expanded my perspectives and inspired me to become the best version of myself.
