“People who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” – Rob Siltanen
I have a poster of this quote in my room, so I get to look at it every day. Every time I see it, I remind myself that I, too, can make the world a better place if I’m intentional with everything I do.
Have you ever felt frustrated with how little you can do to make a difference to the world? Every day, you’re inundated with stories of how the world is “going to end” with crimes and injustice happens everywhere on the news. Maybe you’re overwhelmed with your own personal responsibilities and relationships and have no time attending to the world’s issues, but at the same time, want to do more to make a change to your community and the world?
I get you, I’m on the same boat as you. I believe that we should “be the change we wish to see in the world”, we can’t just look at what’s wrong in the world and blame everyone else for it, we can’t just wait around for things to change and get frustrated if things don’t turn out the way we want it to be. We need to be proactive and take actions to be the change we want to see!
And it doesn’t have to be a significant change. You can start small. You don’t have to found a fundraising organization or become a Nobel Peace Prize activist, you can just focus on what you can do right now to create a meaning impact on the world and other people’s life.
For me, I want to spread positivity and love to the best of my abilities wherever I go, be it putting a smile on a stranger’s face or making a loved ones feel special, making the world a kinder and more positive place is my goal.
Today, I’ll share with you 3 simple ways you can start doing RIGHT NOW to make a positive change in the world. Are you ready?
1. Smiling more
A genuine smile you give to a stranger can really make their day! Smiling is also proven to raise your mood, relieve stress, and also, make you instantly more attractive! And smiles are infectious, when people see you smiling, they tend to smile in return, and that creates a positive energy field and help make everyone feel more friendly and happy.
2. Complaining less
There’s enough of negativity in this world, and we don’t need any more of pessimistic energy. Have you ever felt drained when you spend time with people who are complaining all the time and can’t find the good in anything? Well, we all know that usually doesn’t go well. Your energy is likely to be depleted after talking to that person, or they make you feel bad about your own life. Don’t let them bring you down, and try to spend time with more optimistic, like-minded people instead. When you focus on listening and lifting each other up through positive words and affirmations, not only do we foster a long-lasting, meaningful connection but we also help each other to be a better version of ourselves.
3. Practicing random acts of kindness
Paying for someone’s coffee in the drive-thru, holding door for the person behind you, donating to a charity, surprising your loved one with a gift or buying lunch for a friend, these acts of kindness can go a long way and have a ripple effect that can carry from person to person and lifting up many lives. It really doesn’t take a lot of effort to make someone’s day, and being kind to others also increase the feeling of happiness and positivity within yourself.
Personally, I have immense joy from doing sweet things for other people and help make their life easier, even just a little bit. I believe that we’re all in this together, we all have worries and struggles and we are all trying the best we can, so we should help each other out whenever possible - no acts of kindness ever go to waste.
What about you? In what way do you want to change the world?
