Have you ever felt like you’re not enough?
Not pretty enough
Not skinny/ heavy enough
Not talented enough
Not successful enough
Not happy enough
Not doing enough
…just not enough.
I have good news for you:
You’re not alone.
We all feel like that sometimes. Some people feel it more often than others, but we all go through it.
Generally, there are three main reasons why it’s hard for us to love ourselves. Think back to the past 3 days, have you:
Compared yourself to other people (appearance, success, accomplishments, etc) either on social media or in real life?
Had mean thoughts/ said mean things to yourself when you look in the mirror?
Paid excessive attention to your so-called “imperfections” and “flaws” instead of focusing on what makes you unique and beautiful?
I’ve been there, done that, many, many times. Sometimes it's hard to love ourselves. Comparison, perfectionism, limiting beliefs, rumination, unwillingness to let go, all of that stop us from embracing our unique self and make us stuck in an unhealthy mental state of feeling unworthy or even self-hatred.
It's completely normal that sometimes we feel like we're not enough and undeserving of love. When it happens, I want you to remember that you are enough and you should put yourself above everything else.
Put yourself first
Put your health above work, put your happiness above money, and put yourself first before taking care of others.
"Your relationship with yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have" - Robert Holden.
If you have a supportive and loving relationship with yourself, it’s much easier to love others in a healthy and positive way. You’ll have boundaries, you don’t let others walk all over you, you love wholeheartedly not because you lack anything, but because you have so much love inside you to give to others.
You are the most precious thing in your life, so give yourself the love that it deserves!
Eat like you love yourself. Move like you love yourself. Speak like you love yourself. Act like you love yourself. - Tara Stiles
